GEAR Agri-Based Financing Program

“Scarcity of Capital to plant crops” is one the main issues faced by the Agricultural Industry in Pakistan. GEAR Trust assessed available opportunities for the self-employment and overall upliftment of farmers in collaboration with Ulema (Religious Scholars) in rural areas in Sindh and Balochistan. In this Agri-based financing initiative, GEAR funded Ulema (religious scholars) in rural areas for one acre of land each. These Ulema work in collaboration with one farmer on rented land for one season covering 6-months. GEAR Agri-based financing INITIATIVE is a sustainable model benefiting both Ulema and Farmers and saving money for next acre of land one season, thus doubling their income.
